To celebrate the accomplishments of Strayer University’s graduates during this unprecedented time, please join us for Winter Virtual Commencement on December 12, 2020. Although we cannot celebrate in-person, Virtual Commencement will uphold many of our commencement ceremony traditions while creating a unique and exciting experience for our graduates and their families and friends - including messages from University leaders, featured students and speakers, name reading, and more.

Who is eligible to participate in Virtual Commencement?

You are eligible to participate in Virtual Commencement if you are within TWO courses of completing your degree. This does NOT include courses you are already enrolled in at the time of Virtual Commencement.

Are the in-person ceremonies still taking place?

Out of an abundance of caution and to limit potential exposure to COVID-19, Strayer University is cancelling all in-person commencement ceremonies this year, including Atlanta commencement scheduled for October 3, 2020 and Baltimore commencement scheduled for December 5, 2020. We regret having to make this decision, but your safety is our top priority.

Can I still attend a future in-person ceremony if I participate in Virtual Commencement?

Yes! You are welcome to participate in Virtual Commencement regardless of whether you choose to attend a future in-person ceremony.

If I already registered for one of the ceremonies this year, do I need to register again for Virtual Commencement?

Yes, only those who register for Winter Virtual Commencement will be included. You will NOT be automatically added to the list if you previously registered for one of the cancelled ceremonies. You will need to re-register if you'd like to participate in virtual commencement.

Do I need to purchase a cap and gown for Virtual Commencement?

No, purchasing a cap and gown is NOT required for Virtual Commencement. If you have already purchased a cap and gown for one of the in-person ceremonies, we encourage you to wear it for a photo that you can upload to your registration which will be shown during the virtual ceremony.

Do I have to submit a photo for Virtual Commencement?

A photo is encouraged to upload, but not required. In order to have the best presentation, the photo should be:

  • An individual photo - please no group photos!
  • Professional-looking; wear your cap and gown, Strayer branded gear, or business casual attire
  • JPEG or PNG photo file ONLY
  • File size should NOT exceed 10MB


Where do I view Virtual Commencement?

To view the Winter Virtual Commencement ceremony, please visit The undergraduate ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. EST and the graduate ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, December 12, 2020.

Is this the only Virtual Commencement ceremony taking place for 2020 graduates?

In addition to Winter Virtual Commencement, we also held Summer Virtual Commencement in August 2020. Any future virtual or in-person ceremonies will be listed at as information becomes available.
