The idea behind Strayer University’s Success Project is to redefine the way people think about success, challenging them to embrace their everyday victories as individual successes and take as much pride in the journey as they do the end goal. To do that, we’ve appointed the Student Services Coaches to help you along that journey and empower you with the tools you need to succeed in your academic, personal, and professional lives.

“Education is my passion. To see everyone succeed through education is my passion.”

She received a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication from California State University- Los Angeles, and is now a Strayer University student pursuing a MBA in Management. Kathy is the first person in her family to graduate college, and she uses her firsthand experience of balancing work and education to help students set short-term goals that lead to success in the long run. As a student, her own support system included professors, administrators and close friends.

Kathy’s Top Success Tips

  • Identify what is stopping you from achieving your goals early on. Once you identify those perceived barriers, you can turn a negative into a positive.
  • Focus on the bigger picture – when returning to school, putting in hard work early on will pay off in the long run.
  • Set reminders for yourself! When that alarm goes off, treat it like an alarm clock and use it to get you going on the task at hand.

Her goal is to ensure that students never feel alone, that they have the tools and resources to realize their dreams, and, most importantly, to keep them on the path to success. She focuses on providing students with financial, academic and work/life guidance, and to prepare them for the challenges inherent in building a rewarding career. Kathy defines success as accomplishing goals, whether they are personal or professional. She says, “Education on an all-around level is important for someone to be successful.” Her passion is her students’ success.
